[09.February.2010]

Here's a quick shot of some basses in progress. At this point these bodies are routed for contour only. So there's still much work to be done. But you may be able to imagine how they're going to look when they're finished.

Do you want to join a private party with Scott Henderson? Check this , a masterclass clinic with Scott on 21/2 in Maasdijk.

Here's another video of Viz playing on his Elevation.

[26.January.2010]

A sneak preview of the new Authority! We will first introduce our new website in a few more days and after that our new guitar: the Authority. Coming soon...

[19.January.2010]

You better listen to this! This song is called Chrysler Voyage, from the new cd of Anne Guus Teerhuis Trio. Glenn Gaddum jr plays an Elevation on this track. His bass-solo in this song is really outstanding, not to mention the rest of his playing. And don't you think the Elevation sounds just great?
Play the tune!

[12.January.2010]

Check out this virtuoso! Must be the bass why he's so good... ;-)

[07.January.2010]

2010 starts off with a hit: the new Elevation for Glenn Gaddum jr. A pic says more than words, but perhaps both say most. This bass is made of mahogany and flame maple for the body, and maple with blackwood for the neck and fingerboard. The pickups are Nordstrand dual coils in a custom made wood cover. The cover is radiussed to act as a ramp as well. We installed the De Gier preamp, which is a most exciting preamp, even though we say it ouurselves. The frequencies and curves are just right and there is a passive high cut that works in passive mode as well.

Glenn just picked it up this morning and he loved it (just like we do). Tonight he will perform with it at the presentation party of the new cd of Anne Guus Teerhuis. Many basslines on this recording were done on an Elevation.

[22.December.2009]

Last weekend we have been attacked by terrorists. You didn't really think we had gotten into the Viagra business, did you? It seemed our website had been hacked. We are almost clean and safe again, probably by the end of this day. Sorry if we've caused you any trouble.

Well, just a few more days and it's Christmas. We want to thank all of you for trusting us with your instruments and orders, you have been great customers :-)
2009 has been the best year ever for us, we are truly the BLESSED bunch. And 2010 will be even better! We have some fresh ideas, so stay hooked and you'll be the first to know.
What's VERY exciting is our new website. You know it's coming, just a few more weeks... It will be off the charts, you may want to spend hours there!
And what's also VERY exciting is that we will have Mart. Mart is a trained repairman who will step up to the next level of his promising career. Welcome to the team, Mart.

We are going to end the year relaxed, so we will close at 25 dec and open again at 5 jan 2010. Our shop will be heavily guarded, see pic ;-) We will start the new year refreshed and ready to serve you. Merry Christmas, happy Newyear, be blessed.

[15.December.2009]

While we are working hard to finish the bass of Glenn Gaddum jr in time, we want to share with our faithful readers a piece of art, arranged by Viz. This song is well known as Once upon a time in America, originally composed by E. Morricone. Viz rearranged it and played all the instruments. Sit back and relax for a moment, hit the following link and close your eyes... Play the tune!

[9.December.2009]

Friday 11 dec our shop will be closed!

[8.December.2009]

We have new straps! Excellent quality leather straps in black and dark brown, with our new logo. (we will launch our new site soon...) But that's not all, we also have an extra wide, extra thick (padded), extraspecial dual coloured strap, for all those dudes with heavy instruments. Or for those who just like the looks of those XXL straps.

[1.December.2009]

Here is the other one of the 2 basses we made for Matthias Bangert from Germany. It is an Origin Deluxe 6 Fretless. This bass amazed us. The sound is soo sweet, it sings everywhere on the fretboard. It was not easy to give it to Matthias... Specs: alder body with poplar burl top. Maple neck with blackwood fingerboard. Pickups are De Gier/Haeussel, preamp is Aguilar OBP-3. Again, special feature on this bass is the custom body-shape. We moved the lower horn 2 cm into the body for better access to the highest frets.

[26.November.2009]

Just a quick note to tell you that we have new stock for Catalinbread pedals, including the DLS and SFT.

[25.November.2009]

Look at this! This is one of the 2 basses we made for Matthias Bangert from Germany. It is an Origin Deluxe 6 with a body of mahogany with a redwood top. The neck is maple. Pickups are De Gier/Haeussel, preamp is Aguilar OBP-3. Special feature on this bass is the custom body-shape. We moved the lower horn 2 cm into the body for better access to the highest frets. We don't need to tell you how this beauty sounds, do we...?
Check back next week for Matthias' other baby ;-)

[17.November.2009]

Our friends at Musik Schmidt in Frankfurt made another video. Check this out!

[10.November.2009]

Suppose you always wanted to check out some De Gier basses, but you didn't find an opportunity yet, then this coming sunday (15 nov) can be your day. You can meet us at the European Bassday in Viersen, Germany. We have a booth there, right at the entrance of the building. Come by to say hi and try out some basses. As you may already know, some of our good friends will be playing there: Vincenzo Maurogiovanni (who has just recorded his latest cd!), Reggie Washington (who will be performing on a De Gier bass! Check him out) and of course Richard Bona.
So see you there!

[04.November.2009]

There's so much work to be done that we almost forgot our blog. We have news, the Lava Cable solder-free Pedal Board kits arrived today. A kit contains 10 ft cable, 10 angled plugs and a cutter. The big advantage of these kits above other kits is that these are the smallest plugs around. They save space on your pedalboard, and they sound great. Visit our webshop if you want to buy a kit, for only 75 euro.

[27.October.2009]

We will get a new website! And it will be something you just haven't seen yet! Yesterday we saw the first results of some very hard work and already it looks awesome.
Stay hooked to us and you'll be the first to know.

Those of you who speak German, check out this video, made by Gregor Fris of Musik Schmidt, our dealer in Germany.

[12.October.2009]

This week will be a busy week (that's not unusual..). From friday to sunday we will exhibit at the Kunst & Living fair in Ahoy Rotterdam.  We have some tickets left to give away.  We will bring the most artistic and exclusive instruments we have, so be sure to check us out at booth #62. Our shop will be closed during the fair.

Other news: our webshop is updated with over 40 new products! And this week is the last week to apply to our job opening.

[06.October.2009]

Perhaps you noticed that our webshop was down last week. We apologise for that. We moved our domain to a new server and had a small economic crisis. We are solving the last problems now, so hopefully everything will work fine again one of these days. It is possible that we lost the login-data of some customers. So if you cannot login anymore, please create a new account.

We have some übercool new products in stock. Let me tell you more. Like a ghost from the past the coiled cable is back. People used to dump these because they sounded muffled in the old days, but the new coiled cables from Core One are so much improved that they even sound better than a regular cable. So now you can sound great and look better. After all, a large deal of being a guitarplayer is about how cool you look ;-)

The next thing is the new bass-cable from Core One. You may have noticed that different cables sound different. These cables are optimized for basses, so check these out if you are into low frequencies.

And last but not least the Core X2 sets are back in stock. These sets contain 10 solderless plugs, 20 ft cable and a cutter. This is ideal to make your own patchcables for your pedalboard. The cables sound better than many other cables out there, it is super easy to work with and that at very sharp prices.

[29.September.2009]

Did you read the review of the De Gier Origin Custom 4 in 'Gitarist' (nr 223)? They gave us 5 times 5 stars! Unfortunately we don't have a copy for you at this moment.
A little while ago another magazine (GitaarPlus) reviewed one of our basses too. They were very excited. Here's the link to that one. review

[21.September.2009]

This week we have a new video for you to watch..! This one is all about our first bass model, the Origin. In this video you will see the making of a 6 string Origin Deluxe which was built for one of our customers. We hope you enjoy the video during your coffee break, or just work... :)

[17.September.2009]

As we promised last week you're about to look at a new breed of Reflection! For the first time ever in history it holds three (that's right, 3) pickups in stead of two... And we have to admit; we really like it! Soon we'll have another version of this, this beautiful Reflection holds a set of Nordstrand pickups. A (PAF-like) humbucker in the bridge position and two single coils in middle & neck position. Come by our shop to try this guitar and find out for yourself why we're such big fans of this guitar, the Reflection.

See you next week..!

[10.September.2009]

We decided to split up our news list because it was getting very looong... From now on you will find the most recent news on this page (the current month including the previous one) and you can find all previous news items right here! (there's also a link on the bottom of this section)

This week we have a couple of pictures of one of the latest basses built on custom order. What you're about to see is a beautiful six string De Gier Origin DeLuxe.
It has a Swamp-Ash body with selected flame Redwood on top of it. Haussel-De Gier custom pickups with wooden covers:

A beautiful piece of dark Pao Ferro was used for the fingerboard:

And did we already mention the beautiful flame Redwood used for the top. Look at how beautiful the grain swirls through the flames:

Next week we'll have a couple of pictures of a new breed of Reflection for you... Stay tuned!

[2.September.2009]

You couldn't have missed it, but did you see the big yellow sign up on this page? Yes, you've read it right (translation is 'Work at De Gier?), we have a job opening very soon and we're looking for a new (bass)guitar enthusiast to come and join our team... This is the chance of a lifetime for someone out there!

Did I hear someone say 'economical crisis'? Well, not at De Gier Guitars & Basses for sure... Work is piled up all around us and we have a lot to do so I'm going to keep it short. Thank you all for reading and we wish you a great week!

[28.August.2009]

Stay tuned for the next edition (October) of the dutch version of  'Guitarist' - Gitarist. It will hold a review of one of our instruments and some nice pictures for those who like to look at the images... :-)

This week we have a short preview of the new prototype of our latest guitar model, Authority. As some of you know we already have a (very well) playable prototype in our shop for some time now (check out 18.March.2009) and at first glance you wouldn't think much has changed. We've changed the arch a little bit to a little less 'deep' on the edges and we've changed the look of the heel a bit. Besides that this one will hold new inlays and something new on the headstock. I can't tell you more about that last addition yet...just stay tuned to our website and you'll be the first to know.

'Till next week, thanks for reading..!

[20.August.2009]

This morning we had a photoshoot with three of the latest Reflections. You've seen two of them last week but we want to share some more images of these gorgeous guitars... The third one is custom build for one of our customers, the other two are for sale!

See you next week!
