The body is abachi, the neck is maple and the fingerboard maple. There’s a little dark streak in the wood back of the neck. It’s nature. I’d rather not throw good wood away just because there’s a color variation. The pickups are Fralins.
Abachi with maple sounds a bit compressed but also very open. It’s hard to describe. There is less sub low noise than on alder or ash basses. That means that your low B string sounds very similar to your other strings. You can actually play real notes instead of wooly tones. It has an interesting lively midrange.
The color is Silvergrün. I picked it from a color book. Probably a car finish, probably of a German car. I don’t know, it just seemed cool to me. It has a mild relic finish and an aged white pickguard.
It weighs only 3.72kg, which is very nice for a 5 string!
